Keeping your phone clean is good for your health as well as the health and value of your phone. Here is how to properly clean your cellphone using easily available products.
Remove the case, if you have one.
Use isopropyl alcohol and a microfiber cloth to wipe down the entire phone, front and back. Never use anything abrasive, such as paper towels, cloth rag or a sponge. Isopropyl alcohol is readily available in any pharmacy. 99% concentration is best, but lower concentrations are also acceptable. Microfiber cloths are sold with reading glasses and sunglasses.
Clean the protective case in the same manner - with isopropyl alcohol and a microfiber cloth. Dirt inevitably gets under the case and ironically can scratch the finish.
Clean the speaker/microphone holes. Dampen a toothbrush with isopropyl alcohol and force the bristles down into the holes, then work them back and forth. Depending upon your model of phone, the holes may be located on the front face and/or the bottom edge of the case. If necessary, use a wooden toothpick to carefully pry out thick layers of dust and lint. We have repaired many phone's "muffled speaker" issue by simply cleaning the speaker itself.
Clean the charging port. Use a wooden toothpick to gently pry out any lint and dust from the charging port. You'll be amazed how much pocket lint finds its way into this cavern. Charging problems are often repaired with this simple step.
Phones exist in a hostile environment. Keeping it clean is important for your health. And when it comes time to trade in the phone, you will reap a much higher value.
